HIPPOCRATES member Maarten de Wit receives EULAR PARE Outstanding Achievement Award

Congratulations to our patient research partner (PRP) Maarten!

A big congratulations to Maarten de Wit, one of our Patient Research Partners, for receiving this well-deserved award recognising his outstanding contribution to research and patient advocacy.

"Having psoriatic arthritis since my teenager years, I have seen rheumatology care significantly changing with the advent of a new generation of effective medicines", reflects Maarten. "This award is a valuable recognition of the important role of patients as equal partners in improving rheumatology health care and scientific research. I hope it will inspire a new generation offering their time, energy and commitment to work in the interest of people with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases."

Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) affects millions of people worldwide, and patient involvement is essential in helping research move towards more effective, personalised approaches and addressing real patient needs. In HIPPOCRATES, patients, clinicians, and researchers work hand in hand to improve understanding and outcomes for people living with psoriatic arthritis.

"We cannot think of anyone more deserving as Maarten has worked tirelessly over many, many years to improve the lives of patients with arthritis, in particular those with PsA," commend the HIPPOCRATES coordinators Oliver FitzGerald and Stephen Pennington on behalf of the consortium.
