HIPPOCRATES at EULAR 2026: Strengthening Connections Across the Rheumatology Community

The HIPPOCRATES project was strongly represented at EULAR Congress 2026 in London, showcasing research progress and celebrating patient engagement.

The HIPPOCRATES consortium was proud to participate in EULAR 2026, bringing together researchers, clinicians, patient representatives, and industry partners from across the rheumatology community for a week of scientific exchange, collaboration, and innovation.

Throughout the congress, HIPPOCRATES researchers and Patient Research Partners contributed to a diverse programme of presentations, discussions, and networking activities focused on advancing the understanding and early identification of psoriatic arthritis (PsA). A particular highlight of this year's congress was the strong visibility of patient involvement within the rheumatology community. HIPPOCRATES Patient Research Partners played prominent roles throughout the event, demonstrating the value of meaningful patient engagement in research and healthcare innovation:

  • Wendy Wagenaar contributed as a reporter for EULAR TV, bringing key congress insights and discussions to a wider audience.
  • Souzi Makri spoke on stage during the Opening Plenary, sharing the patient perspective and reinforcing the importance of patient-centred research.
  • Maarten de Wit received the prestigious EULAR PARE Outstanding Achievement Award, recognising his longstanding contribution to advancing patient involvement in rheumatology research. Learn more here.

The scientific programme also featured several HIPPOCRATES-related contributions, including presentations on patient research partner involvement, advances in psoriatic arthritis management, genetic studies of treatment response, and updates on the HIPPOCRATES Prospective Observational Study (HPOS), which aims to identify risk factors associated with the development of PsA.

Visitors to the HIPPOCRATES booth had the opportunity to learn more about the project's ongoing research activities, recent publications, and the HPOS study. The booth provided a valuable space for engaging discussions with researchers, healthcare professionals, patients and patient organisations, as well as other stakeholders interested in improving outcomes for people living with psoriatic disease.

EULAR 2026 once again demonstrated the strength of collaboration within the rheumatology community and highlighted the importance of integrating scientific excellence with meaningful patient partnership. Thank you to everyone who visited the HIPPOCRATES booth, attended presentations, and contributed to the many inspiring conversations throughout the congress.

We look forward to building on the new connections made and continuing our mission to improve health outcomes for people living with psoriatic arthritis through earlier identification, better understanding of disease progression, and patient-centred research.
