HIPPOCRATES at EULAR 2025: Advancing Psoriatic Arthritis Research and Engagement
The HIPPOCRATES project was proud to participate in the EULAR 2025 Congress, held in Barcelona, Spain, where it showcased its work to advance understanding and treatment of Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA).
The congress provided an ideal platform to raise awareness of PsA and to highlight the project’s collaborative efforts across its 27 partner organisations.
At a dedicated booth in the Non-Profit Organisations Exhibition area, HIPPOCRATES representatives engaged with congress participants to share updates on project activities and introduce the HIPPOCRATES Prospective Observational Study (HPOS) - a key initiative aimed at improving early diagnosis and personalised care for people living with PsA. Nina Weiler (EURICE) and Patricia Riedlova (University of Glasgow) were on site to present the project and facilitate discussions with attendees.
One of the central goals of HIPPOCRATES at EULAR 2025 was to foster collaboration with national patient organisations to support recruitment for HPOS. Project members also strengthened connections with organisations already engaged in supporting the study.
Scientific contributions to the congress were made by several HIPPOCRATES partners. Ana Belén Azuaga and José A. Gómez-Puerta (IDIBAPS), Giulia Corte and Maja Schlereth (Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen), Gisela Orozco (University of Manchester), and Arani Vivekanantham (University of Oxford) actively participated in the programme through poster presentations and talks, underlining the project’s strong presence in the scientific dialogue around rheumatological diseases.
In addition to scientific and outreach activities, the HIPPOCRATES team brought a wide array of communication materials to the booth. Organised by our communciation manager Nina, these included displays for the booth, targeted flyers addressing both general and patient-specific audiences, and engaging giveaways - such as an interactive LinkedIn quiz and stress-relieving hippo figures.
HIPOCRATES also thanks Patricia for her active presence and commitment at the booth, and HIPPOCRATES co-coordinator Oliver Fitzgerald (University College Dublin) for his inspiring leadership and continued engagement. A heartfelt thank-you goes to patient research partners Maarten DeWit, Wendy Wagenaar, and Souzi Makri, whose support and enthusiasm continue to motivate and guide HIPPOCRATES’ research efforts.
The team extends its gratitude to everyone who visited the HIPPOCRATES stand, shared insights, and contributed to a dynamic and collegial atmosphere throughout the event. Special thanks go to the European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology (EULAR), particularly Diana Rodrigues and Kristina Chingov, for their ongoing support and collaboration.
HIPPOCRATES’ participation at EULAR 2025 exemplifies the project's commitment to stakeholder engagement, scientific excellence, and patient-centred research. The project looks forward to continuing this important work and strengthening collaboration across the PsA research and care community.
